Free eMail and Free internet access comes in all shapes and sizes, you can be overwhelmed when it comes to choosing so draw up a list of features the must-haves and the nice-to-haves.. An extra email address can always come in handy. You may wish to have an extra layer of privacy, place a sepration between your personal and work mail requirements. There are 1000s of providers in over 60 countries however the Free eMail Providers Guide (FEPG) makes it a little easier. Here are some more reason why yopu might want another eMail account:

  • It's free – for life!
  • It's permanent. You'll keep the same address even if you change jobs or ISPs.
  • It's globally accessible from any Internet-connected
    computer-anywhere in the world.
  • It's private. You'll have your own mailbox and your own password.
  • If you want to hide your office or shared family email address then use one of these.

Web-Based eMail

These eMail accounts let you read your email from browser wherever you might be. This means that managing your email in this way does not need a special mail program. It also means that there is no mails stored on your PC. This is useful if your PC becomes subject to an audit of some kind. With many of these services you can now send and receive attachments but they are not the base choice for a email file system. That is if you store previous emails as a record or to keep track of things. They tend to be better for quick turn-around information, and in fact the service hosting the eMail service might not keep mail that long before you become Over Quota or it is delete.

Secure your Web Mail - Email is one of most widely used applications in today's networked society, making it a key area where security issues must be addressed.
HushMail provides a true end-to-end security solution and, unlike other so-called secure solutions, at no stage is the data left unencrypted on Web servers.
Encrypted email
Sending encrypted email through HushMail is simple, requiring no special skills or knowledge. While many different email services offer some level of security, Hush's technology is unique in its transparent key management process.

Encrypted attachments
HushMail's protection extends to all attachments, including audio and graphic files. Premium account customers may send attachments of up to 5MB and receive encrypted attachments of up to 3MB.

Easy digital signing
Digital signatures are commonly used to authenticate the identity of the sender of a message, as well as ensuring that the message contents have not been altered in transit.

Roaming capability
Because the system is Web-based, users have full access to the system at all times, even while "roaming" or travelling. Archiving made easy!
Archive your communications efficiently with HushMail's enhanced folder functionality. HushMail Version 2.0 allows the user to create, delete, rename and move folders. You can also move emails between folders and create multi-level folders. Additionally, deleted email is moved to the Trash folder, from where it can be retrieved until permanently deleted

Email notification
HushMail offers users the option of receiving an email notification at any of their other email addresses whenever they receive HushMail. This is particularly convenient if the Hush user does not want to change their primary email address but wants the option of communicating in total privacy with other HushMail users.

Address book
No email system is complete without an electronic address book. HushMail's address feature allows users to create nicknames for all correspondents. The nicknames are stored with corresponding addresses so Hush users can utilize the store of nicknames instead of typing in addresses each time a mail is composed. Mail forwarding services

Such as BigFoot give you a forwarding service or an "alias". All the messages that are sent to this address are forwarded to your home email address at your provider  (eg joeSoap@aol.com). This would be recomemded should you change providors often or wish a layer of privacy  or  to camouflage an email address such as joesoap@school.ac.uk

POP mail services

Such as MailandNews let you collect your mail and send it via email software such as that which comes with Netscape or MSIE (messenger/outlook) or others such as Eudroa. This soultion is idea if you manage you email in one place and if you want to integrate other features into it such as PGP (see privacy)
